fall over chicago 7-8-11

one year of sleep'll do you no harm it's said
could've met my maker one time but now instead
one night can last a lifetime. my bed of prose
you can have another lifetime. what's mine is yours
i wanna fight the good fight with you, my friend
and if we fall over chicago well that's my kind of end
so let love in and i'll hold down the fort for you
let love in let it grow i'll be good for it
never wanted absolution. i'll take my hand
and i would rather be in debt and in full control
maybe now's the perfect time to finally learn to harmonize

drinking song 3, 8-30-11

i level out when i can tell there's nothing here i haven't seen before, but something always happens to drag me down and i swing into the pain.
there's that ache. the words escape, or rather hide.. i don't have a clue and i can't blame it on the rain this time, no, it's sunny as shit again.
so fuck this town, it's good to me, and everyone is saying they love me. i used to be okay i think but then i was drinking myself to death.

i've got plans for the night
mostly to be more polite
i'll trust the coming of spring
caught in the pressure of things
my part is played by a fool
paper and sound fills the room
believe it's something like bliss
yeah right not something i'll miss
fingers on the pressure will all beat on
i'm calling for you to bring me home
unfold and say what you know
i can't get more honest than this
train rides are robbing us blind
more than the passage of time

last year trees fell wind swept we felt
covered in the natural shadows
a bed of sleeping willows
dreaming of the agony of lovers
who thought it best to suffocate each other
we bleached our bones made coats of thorns
and promised we'd live up to our promises
but never said who made the promises
and always when you slept i turned the light on
my last chance to control the shadows
your prayers only mean something to me
yeah babe they mean the world to me

colors and crimes
03:29
|
|||
you can believe what you want to believe and i won't say a word
see the truth it comes in different shades and mine is a certain gray to my own embarrassment
i'm not fit for judgements, not known for patience. hell i'm just about as lost as they come
so i'll scream when you smile and god help you if you read my mind
we haven't been this down in a while
it's killing us these colors and crimes
it wears my eyes out
hate to feel, love to hate, tongue to cut til you bleed
it wears my eyes out
these pretty things will make you weak they tear apart at the seams
it wears my eyes out
some kind of crucifixion scene
so you can believe what you want to believe and i won't say a word
yeah you can believe what you want to believe but you'd better make a choice today
i'm begging you to walk away

i was a graveyard yesterday
feeling yr footsteps on the ground
leaving these photographic burns on my world
and every date will fade away
history etched now worn completely
in such an envious decay. oh no
but i'm getting better the more i forget
and i'm getting smarter if i don't look back
and i'll be healed the day i turn around to footprints washed away
i was a bored and sad parade
i was one sycophantic beauty
i never meant to play the fool for a friend
every time i try to set it straight
good intentions boil to hate
when i bite you're meant to bleed. so sorry
but i'm getting better the more i forget
and i'm getting smarter when i don't look back
and i'll be healed the day i turn around to footprints washed away
the day i look down and this blood is just a stain
